CPAC, Bannockburn, Illinois
The College Park Athletic Club in Bannockburn, IL is a 75,000 sq ft facility which provides its members with state-of-the-art tennis and overall fitness programs. Lighting accounted for over 25% of the facility’s energy usage and general manager, Brian Wu, recognized that solid-state lighting fixtures offered an opportunity to reduce his energy consumption and improve the quality of his lighting. He approached Axlen Lighting as the manufacturer of best-in-class LED edge lit panels to replace his fluorescent troffers. By working closely with the Axlen sales team, it was determined that a 2′ x 2′ 32W or 50W e-Solis™ panel provided superior lighting output to the existing 2′ x 4′ fluorescent troffers, while providing as much as a factor of five in energy savings. In the office and enclosed ceiling areas, the e-Soils panels afforded a perfect “drop-in” replacement for the existing troffers. In the gymnasium and open ceiling areas, the ultra-thin panels were suspended from the grid structure providing a modern lighting design. The upgrade was accomplished with minimal disruption to the operation of the club and resulted in a brighter and more inviting environment.
In the pro-shop area, CPAC replaced all their old 2′ x 4′ fluorescent troffers with Axlen e-Solis™ 2′ x 2′ edge-lit panels, energy consumption was reduced by 85% while providing customers with a better quality of light and much improved color rendering index (85 vs. ~ 70). The colors of the apparel and merchandise are truly vibrant under the new lighting fixtures giving customers a superior shopping experience.
“The Axlen panels have really brightened up our facility. The whole lighting upgrade process from fixture selection to installation was painless.”
Brian remarked, “The Axlen panels have really brightened up our facility. The whole lighting upgrade process from fixture selection to installation was painless. The energy savings are great and with the ComEd rebate program, we’re looking at an ROI of less than one year. It’s really a win-win situation that’s good for the environment, good for the club members and good for the bottom line.”
